SPAM is unwanted, junk e-mail. It's a problem throughout the Internet and is very difficult to detect and control.
Mail arriving for our customers is initially passed through a SPAM and virus detection appliance. Mail the machine believes to be SPAM is labeled "PROBABLY SPAM." In most e-mail programs, you can create a Message Rule to filter for those words in the subject line and treat it differently from other mail -- you decide how.
Bear in mind that any SPAM filtering done by a computer is subject to dumb machine sensibilities, not human scrutiny. It's difficult to create machine rules to identify SPAM. So machines make errors. |
